With this third album in the Slåttepiano series, Ingfrid Breie Nyhus continues her unique exploration of Norwegian folk traditions meeting the world of the piano. Old motifs, tonalities and rhythms merge with piano impulses ranging from jazz to contemporary music, all brought together in Nyhus’ intimate and warm folk-pianistic style. This time, she draws inspiration from Hallingdal, where her mother’s family has its roots. Fiddle and vocal tunes from this area have been the starting point from where the seven tracks of the album have been created: Music of subtle playfulness and quiet warmth.
